Cübo Ai Plus baby monitor review

Every first time mom wants the best for their baby. From crib to car seat to baby monitor. I have tried many different baby monitors, recently I was given the opportunity to give Cubo Ai Plus a try. In this blog I will go over all of the features of the monitor that I love as well as share some photos.

If you are interested in trying it out for yourself I have a discount code for you! TASHA2021 will help you save, you can click this link to take you directly to the site. https://bit.ly/3ypJ764

First things first I absolutely love the easy set up. I went with the floor stand and it took me less than five minutes to put together. I love that Cübo Ai gives you this option because I can easily use it if we are travelling or if the baby is sleeping in a different room in a playpen. There is also an option to use a wall mount which is perfect if you will always be using the monitor over the crib!

I personally think it is a huge bonus that I am able to use the same monitor wherever I am, as long as I have Wi-Fi.

I have tried many different monitors between both of the kids. The issue that I have with a lot of other monitors, is that the picture is not clear. I’m going to put a screen shot of Logan below so you can see just how clear the display is on my phone.

As you can see the quality of the camera is very high! I can even see Logan breathing through my phone. The night view is just as clear as day time.

One of the most important thing I look for in a baby monitor is safe sleep features. Cübo Ai Plus offers a feature that will notify you if your babies face is covered. This includes rolling over to their stomach (great for young babies)  or if anything is covering their face. As a family we always practice safe sleep methods and never put anything in the crib with our kids but in the case something was in the crib and coving their face, the monitor would be able to notify you. You can also change the notifications once they are old enough to roll over and sleep on their stomach.

Some additional favourite features:

Can use multiple monitors on one app- this allows me to have one in each kids room and be able to see both of them in one app.

Can have the app on multiple phones- this is great for both myself and my husband having access to see the kids.

Two way talk- can talk to older kids (or babies) through the monitor if you have to.

Temperature and humidity gage- you can see exactly what your kids rooms are at.

Viewing from your phone- this means you can see your kids no matter if you’re home or not.

Birds eye view- I love that it is right over the crib, this allows me to see exactly what I need to without any obstructions.

Not to mention, the design is adorable and would look great in any nursery!

I could go on and on about why I love Cübo Ai Plus, but I think you get the point if you’ve made it this far! Make sure you join the Cubo Community to connect with parents! https://www.facebook.com/groups/CuboCommunity/?ref=share

Can curb side pickup stay forever?

While pregnant with Logan we used curb side pickup so often. Let’s face it, whether you’re a first time, second time, fifth time mom, you’re tired during pregnancy! Having a two year old and no energy from being pregnant, curb side pickup was a lifesaver. We visited BuyBuyBaby Canada way more than I’d care to admit. With this crazy pandemic and not being able to shop in a store, even if you wanted to. BuyBuyBaby has made it so easy for Canadians to still get all their babies needs without having to wait for shipping times. Since this was my second pregnancy I already knew what worked for us, what didn’t work and baby items I wish I tried with my first.

First item on my registry was the baby bjorn bouncer. I had heard this bouncer was a game changer, but needed to see what all the talk was about. It has hands down been our most used baby item with Logan.

Next we purchased the Bugaboo Stardust pop up play yard and sheet.

I knew with having a 2.5 year old and two dogs, we needed a safe place to be able to put the baby down. This play yard has been a lifesaver for those moments when I have to run to grab something for Addison or let the dogs out. We also use it as a change area on the main floor. We can’t wait for traveling to be in our lives again and will be bringing this with us.

A few other items that I knew I wanted to try with a second baby are the angle care bath tub, babymoov lovenest newborn pillow, baby brezza formula pro.

Thank you to curb side pickup, I was able to get all the baby items I wanted, without even going into the store.

buybuy BABY Canada

This store will always hold a special place in my heart. With our first child we purchased many of her first items from them. We brought her home from the hospital in her new car seat from buybuy BABY Canada. Now that she’s older, she’s running around vacuuming the house with her mini Dyson we recently picked up, using curbside pickup.

I was ecstatic to hear that  buybuy BABY was opening a store here in Winnipeg. This meant I could go in and see all the amazing products and help support our local location, rather than ordering online. The day of the sneak peek grand opening was amazing. This store has everything you could ever need for a new addition to your family. Everything is so organized and the staff are beyond helpful. They will listen to your wants and needs and share the best products with you that meet your needs.

Grand opening

buybuy BABY Canada always runs sales through email coupons. I can always find the best deal as they will price match and still honor the 20% off coupon. They just recently had a Big baby sale event, which most of the top baby products were on major discount, plus you can still use the email coupon. I did a lot more shopping than I care to admit (don’t tell my husband haha).

Now that we are adding another little one to our family, I know I will be doing much more shopping at buybuy BABY Canada. I knew we needed a double stroller right from the get go as our plan had always been to have more than one baby. The staff at the Winnipeg location showed me many options and we were able to pick out the best stroller for our family! We ended up going with the UppaBaby Vista as it can be a single or a double stroller, it has a huge basket under to hold winter coats and diaper bags. I highly recommend this store to any expecting mama or family with little ones. I have added a few of my top picks from their website below.

Medela freestyle flex
UppaBaby vista
Cybex cart seat
Kyte baby sleepers
Play mats
Como tomo bottles
Wubbanub soother

The Perfect Bib

Hi Lovelies!

We received the waterproof silicone baby bibs from Nature Bond International. I cannot say enough good things about them!

First off they come in a waterproof reusable bag! This is so amazing because you can use them to throw into your diaper bag. Once your kiddo dirties them while you’re out you can just throw them back into the reusable pouch to bring home and wash.

These bibs have 4 tightening buttons. This means as your little ones grow the bibs grow with them! They also shouldn’t be able to pull them off.

They come in 2 beautiful colours, tangerine orange as well as lemonade yellow. They also have the most adorable penguin on them.

These bibs have a wide angle with a tray to catch all the food droppings. They are made out of FDA approved silicone and are BPA and PVC free. Meaning they are safe for your babes to use.

The best thing about them is they are dishwasher safe!!

Thanks for reading! Hope this helps other mamas find the perfect bibs for their little peanuts.

If you purchase the Nature Bond International fruit feeders and bibs from amazon, you can use the code FEEDERBIBS for 10% off! https://amzn.to/2unUs8l

First family vacation

February, 2019 will always be a special time for me.  This was the month in which Addison took her first vacation!  We went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with my parents.  We could not have asked for a better first trip.  She did great on the plane, had a lot of fun swimming, and also tried a bunch of new foods for the first time.  Read below to find out more and what to pack!

First things first make sure you have the baby’s passport before you book your trip! I don’t know how it is in other parts of the world but here in Canada it takes FOREVER. I was told so many different dates that I would be receiving her birth certificate by. The dates kept passing and I was getting frustrated. Finally 3 months after we sent in the request form we received her birth certificate. I then had to go get her passport photos taken. Once I brought in all the information for the passport it took about 8 business days to receive it by mail.

At almost any all-inclusive resort kids under 2 are free! They are also free on the airplane, as long as you’re willing to have them sit on your lap for the flight. The only catch is your little one doesn’t get their own checked bag included. Eric and I ended up sharing a suitcase, while Addison took one for all her stuff. We gave Addison Tylenol right before take off, and I nursed her during take off and landing. She was very content and didn’t cry once the whole flight. Proud mom moment haha.

What to pack for your little peanut:

Diapers – I packed enough for 8 a day but ended up being way too many. Better to have too many than too little in my opinion. I’d say 6 per day would have been plenty.

Little swimmers- 2 per day

1 package of wipes

1 container of bum cream

9 sleepers this is good for 1 per day plus 2 extra for accidents.

2 bathing suits – I found it very helpful to have 2 so one could dry while she was using the other one.

5 tops/tanks

4 dresses/rompers

4 pants/ shorts

1 Beach cover up

2 Hats

Soother- Addison will not suck on a soother but she likes to chew the edge of the avent brand ones.

1 teething toy

1 favorite toy- they really only need 1 toy to keep them entertained, I brought a Lamaze toy as it had multiple things to keep her happy.

Floaty for the pool

Life jacket- I brought one but honestly didn’t use it, she was so little and just wanted to be held when we were in the pool.

3 swaddle blankets

Nursing cover – if nursing and aren’t as open about it like myself.

Stroller- we didn’t use a stroller bag and it was totally fine.

Diaper bag

Ziplock bags- for well anything haha

Sunscreen- I love the brand Think Baby, at least SPF 50

Baby carrier- I brought the Ergo baby 360 as she could face in when tired and out when she wanted to look around. I’d highly recommend bringing one! We used this just about every day.

Soap/ lotion- make sure you pack your soap and lotion from home that your little ones skin is used to.

Tylenol- in case of fever, or any emergency!

Bibs – depends on how much solids they are eating

2 little spoons- you can wash and reuse them

Vitamin D drops- if breastfeeding

Bottles and formula- if not breastfeeding

This is the exact list of everything I packed for little Miss Addison and we were not missing anything! We were able to enjoy our whole trip and were well prepared! I hope this list helps you pack for your first vacation with your little ones ❤

Must have baby items

Ok so I have decided to show you all my favourite baby products. All of these products have had a huge impact on my life and Addis first 6 months! I’m going to go over what has worked for us and also what hasn’t worked. Every baby is so different as I found out very quickly so don’t feel discouraged if your baby doesn’t seem to like what you bought for them.

Car seat: We decided to go with the peg perego primo viaggio 4-35. After hours of research I loved how many safety features it has. I also love that it grows with your baby with the 3 step system. No need for neck pillow when they are first born. At first Addi absolutely hated getting buckled in, but she soon learnt this was a part of life and she didn’t have a choice. It seems to be comfortable for her and we are soon going to be looking into upgrading her to a convertible car seat. I’ll have to do a bit more research but I know peg perego makes a nice convertible one.

Stroller: The first stroller that I had purchased for Addi was the bugaboo chameleon. At first I loved it for its sleek design and lightweight. But soon after Addi had arrived I noticed that it was NOT sturdy at all! There was barely any cargo space underneath. I couldn’t even fit the diaper bag and a winter jacket at the same time. I decided to get the mommy hook to hang on it so if I was shopping I could hang my bags off of it. This was a huge mistake as it would actually tip the stroller with Addis car seat on top. To fold the stroller up you actually need to take the seat off so this was a huge pain! So needless to say I sold it and had to get a new one. The new stroller that I picked up is the city select baby jogger. This stroller is AMAZING. The best part is that it is very sturdy and I feel like Addi is so safe in it! There is so much room at the bottom I can fit the diaper bag, shopping bags and two winter coats!!! You can also hang stuff off of it with no problem. This stroller turns into a double stroller just with an extra seat you can purchase so this is perfect for when we want to grown our family again! It’s so easy to fold with the seats attached. I would recommend this stroller to anyone and everyone!

The Halo bassinest: a life saver for the first 6 months. It sits right beside your bed and you can swing it right over your bed! It makes it so easy for those late night feedings. As a new first time mom you pretty much don’t sleep unless you can hear your baby breathing right beside you so this bassinet made that a breeze. This is definitely a necessity for any new mom.

The snuggle me organic: originally I had my mind set on getting a doc-a-tot but I soon realized that you cannot order one to Canada. So back to the drawing board I had to research other options. I came across the snuggle me organic and fell in love! I haven’t had a doc-a-tot but i actually think the snuggle me is better as it hugs your babies body. It helps to sooth them in the beginning as they think they are being held. This helps so much when I needed to put her down when she was napping and I knew she would be safe and not be able to roll at all. She actually is still sleeping in it right now as she’s so used to it. I think I’m going to have to get the toddles size in the near future! Definitely would recommend this!

MY HEART little nugget

Breast pump: I had purchased the medela double electric breast pump, I tried so many times to use it but would only be able to get 1 ounce at the most! For some reason it just didn’t work for me. I actually saw Jillian Harris post about the Haakaa and decided to give it a go. It was $35 on amazon so I figured if it didn’t work it wouldnt be a big deal. The Haakaa is a silicone hand pump that you suction onto the opposite boob of the one you’re feeding with. This thing was a life saver!!! The first time I used it I got 3 oz from the opposite boob and it did not hurt at all! I am very impressed with it and would for sure recommend. It’s so small so you can bring it in your diaper bag or purse for when you’re out.

Swing: I always see moms with the 4moms momaroo and I just assumed Addi would love it! So I splurged on it as it’s modern and doesn’t take up as much space as a normal swing. Unfortunately it could never calm her or keep her asleep. So another thing I had to sell. Luckily my friend from works son had just turned one and she was able to lend me her fisher price swing. She swore by it for both of her kids, so I figured I’d give it a go! It worked like a charm! The first time I put Addi into it she fell asleep right away and took a 2 hour nap, which was unheard of in our house!

Skip hop activity centre: Addi received the skip hop activity centre from her grandparents as part of her Christmas gift. She has loved it since day one! There’s so much for her to look at and play with. We put her into it a bit earlier than recommended but with a blanket behind her she loved it! It’s perfect because it actually turns into a table later on and you can purchase little matching chairs to go with it. I definitely see them in our future! Perfect for her own table to colour/have a snack on, or just do what she wants to do with it!

The jolly jumper: this is a must have, it keeps her entertained for a good half an hour just listening to music and jumping. I am usually able to cleanup the dishes and sometimes get in some vacuuming while she jumps and does her own thing.

Diapers: The only diapers I have used on Addi since day one are pampers pure. I have pretty sensitive skin so I know how it feels when you have a rash and never wanted Addi to have that especially as a newborn! These diapers have exceeded my expectation. She is now almost 7 months and hasn’t had a sign of diaper rash yet! To top it off they have the cutest designs on them! We will soon be starting size 3 and I can’t wait to see the new designs!

Swaddle blankets: I know you’re supposed to use muslim cotton swaddles as they are breathable and reduce the risk of suffocation. Unfortunately I have a million and one and Addi hates them and would never stay swaddled. I came across swaddles from copper pearl and they have been a life saver!! They are SO SOFT and have the cutest patters you could ever imagine. They even have adorable patters for you boy mamas. Addi has slept swaddled in these since her first week and still does! She’s one of those that needs to be swaddled at all times or else she will not sleep a wink. So thank you copper pearl!

Baby wearing: the last thing I want to share with you is baby carriers! I was gifted the baby k’tan from my aunt at my baby shower! This was a life saver in the early days when Addi wouldn’t nap unless she was touching me. As much as I love snuggling her, sometime I need to get things done. This wrap allowed us to have the best of both worlds. I could snuggle her and she could sleep touching me all while I would be cleaning or out for a walk Or whatever I had to do. Later on I bought the ergo baby carrier as she is able to face out with this one and we were going to Mexico and needed something that we could wear for a long time. This carrier is so amazing as it has a back support strap so your back doesn’t get sore while baby wearing! I would for sure recommend both of these!

These are just a few of the things that did and didn’t work for us as new parents! Hope this helps you new mamas (and dads) out ♥️♥️

The Birth of Addison Marie

8am I know every women’s birth story is very different… So here’s mine haha. We had just recently moved in to our newly built house. So since I was off for one month before Addison’s birth I had people coming and going almost every day fixing minor details and finishing things. On this day there just so happened to be the duct guy here as our fans were not working in the bathrooms. He had just left around 830 and I was sitting on the couch with Teddy looking out the window. I was just about to head upstairs to go get ready to go mall walking as almost every overdue soon to be mama does. And then all of a sudden I heard a loud POP and felt like I peed myself, I felt a jolt of electricity in my pelvic area!

It happened… My water had broke just like in the movies. Everyone who I had talked to told me that they never experience their water breaking before the doctors having to do it for them. I called Eric in a panic. He was kind of annoyed that I called him because he JUST got to work. I would call him all the time in the last month of pregnancy because I was bored and just wanted to talk haha. Once he realized what happened he got right back in the car and was on his way to come pick me up. I was a mess rushing around the house trying to figure out everything that we needed to bring to the hospital even though the hospital bags were packed weeks before.

10am We just arrived at the hospital and Eric drop me off at the door and he went to park. I rushed upstairs to the second floor and went to the desk where you get admitted. They quickly checked to see how dilated I was which was 1 cm. They told us to go walk the halls for three hours and come back and hopefully they will have a room for us. We got to know Saint Boniface Hospital quite well in those three hours as it is very small and we had a lot of time on our hands. We went back to the desk and they check me again and this time I was 3 cm dilated so this was progress. They still didnt have a room for us so they sent us to walk for another three hours. We were extremely bored and tired of walking the halls I think we went past every room and every ward we could get into. We headed back to the desk and of course still no room I was still 3 cm dilated at this point so we were sent on another walk.

830pm YAY! We had a room! Since I was still 3 cm dilated and they had induced me around 9 PM. I remember thinking to myself is this it? Is this labour? Since I wasn’t feeling any pain or contractions at this point. The nurse kept telling me you will know when its go time. I went into this knowing I wanted the epidural as I am a baby and have a horrible pain tolerance. I kept asking the nurse when should I get the epidural. She would tell me that I would know when/if I needed it. So in the meantime we watched movies on the small tube TV with a VHS player. All the movies were at the end of the tape, so we basically watched them backwards first while they rewinded then watched them all over again with sound…. thanks to everyone for not rewinding them when they were done haha.

3am We were for sure movied out 6 hours later… The Dr came into check me and still 3cm dilated! The nurse kept telling me I should try to get in some sleep while I could but how are you supposed to sleep when you know you’re going to meet you baby anytime!!! By this time I was in quite a bit of pain and asked for the epidural. The anesthesiologist had come by earlier to explain the process to me so when I was ready he could do it quickly. He was just doing one other mamas and then it was my turn! I was so excited for this as any mom knows, contractions are NO JOKE!! Unfortunately it took the anesthesiologist 4 times to attempt to get it into the right spot as I’m trying to stay still during contractions but also hunched over squishing my baby. Finally it was in and I thought we were good to go. 1 hour had passed and I was in even more pain than before. The anesthesiologist came back to try again, another 4 attempts and he thinks he got it this time.

6am I was in excruciating pain at this point still 3cm dilated. Before getting induced I thought it meant this baby was going to be here very soon, I was very wrong haha. The anesthesiologist didn’t get it the second time either. Did I mention he was in training? I had to wait an hour but then the attending anesthesiologist did my epidural for the third time. She was AMAZING! It took her about 5 minutes and it started working instantly. The amount of pain I was in in that hour is indescribable. I asked the nurse to check to see if I dilated any more as it was so much pain. She checked and said you’re never going to believe this but you’re 10cm! so within that hour I had gone from 3cm to 10cm! ITS BABY TIME! She ran to get the Dr. and with 20 minutes of pushing Addison was born at 8:04am. The most amazing moment in my life as we welcomed our baby girl into this world. All 9 pounds 2 ounces of pure love.
